✍️ THE SCOUT REPORT
It’s been a long, long time since the last FPL deadline due to intense cup action. Remember that this next one takes place on Friday evening, where we’re immediately thrown into another Double Gameweek. Those currently using a Wildcard can make the most of Aston Villa and Liverpool playing twice - it can be used in tandem with a Gameweek 29 Free Hit, the time when both teams blank.
Villa fan Tom Freeman says his side’s best options include Morgan Rogers, who is fresh from a cup haul but already on eight yellow cards. And there’s centre-forward Ollie Watkins, despite him having a knock. He’s been labelled as one the biggest winners after January’s transfer window, just like Dango Ouattara, the latter putting up some good statistics since moving up front.
In-form Bournemouth have great upcoming fixtures so owning at least one midfielder is advised, though Lateriser prefers penalty-taking Justin Kluivert after last weekend’s FA Cup rest. Zophar covers both the Cherries and Villa in one of two Q&A sessions, the other looking at Assistant Manager usage – and no, Arne Slot’s midweek red card is not a problem. Lateriser also found time to look at overall chip strategy now we know slightly more about the future. Fellow Pro Pundit Pras provides a roadmap showing the different directions he could take in the rest of this season.
Before these cup games, Gameweek 24 saw Daniel Munoz haul and Jean-Philippe Mateta score twiceat Old Trafford. The pair boasts some very good expected goals (xG) data. Since then, Man United have given Patrick Dorgu his debut but on the right flank. Another new arrival, Mathys Tel, is already on the scoresheet for Spurs. They’ve been added at £4.5m and £6.0m.
As well as regular weekly coverage of the Fantasy EFL game, we’ve reported on other notable FPL events from the past week. Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz injuries could increase game time for cheap midfielder Ethan Nwaneri. But one player rapidly losing appeal is Joao Pedro, after awful formand an FA Cup benching.
Still to come before the deadline are news editions of The Great and The Good, Scout Squad, Captain Sensible and Spot the Differential.
