✍️ THE SCOUT REPORT

After a summer full of European Championship, Copa America and Olympic action, we are so incredibly close to the return of Premier League action. Of course, that means FPL is back.

Before locking in your Gameweek 1 squads, make sure to visit our detailed pre-season page, allowing you to quickly access articles, warm-up results and our much-loved minutes tracker for all friendlies.

We’ve created a range of ‘best player’ positional guides for each price range and continued our team-by-team previews by assessing Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool, Newcastle, Man United, Spurs, Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Wolves and Fulham.

By the way, all of this can be followed on our newly launched app, available at both the App Store and Play Store.

The last week has seen an online push for Diogo Jota inclusion after his volley against Sevilla. It’s led to Pro Pundits Lateriser and Zophar ditching Mohamed Salah for him, although the Egyptian is a unanimous Scout Squad pick. In addition to his Q&A, Zophar has also asked if Cole Palmer is worth the extra £4.0m over team-mate Christopher Nkunku.

Meanwhile, FPL General is torn on fellow premium Erling Haaland but Simon March wants a big front three of Haaland, Alexander Isak and new Spurs signing Dominic Solanke. Such attacking assets are likely to benefit most from the new bonus point system, yet we’re awaiting concrete information on whether Solanke will start on the opening day.

The final friendlies also brought up questions on Anthony Gordon’s match fitness and which Arsenal centre-back is best. Both of them scored past Lyon. There’s also a battle for the best cheap midfielder between Emile Smith Rowe and Yankuba Minteh, although Oscar Bobb’s positive Community Shield performance is already outdated due to injury.

Elsewhere, Scout have partnered with the free LazyFPL newsletter, which sends out news, stats and tips exactly 24 hours before each Gameweek’s deadline. We’ve detailed how to conduct a draft on the Sleeper app and listed some set-and-forget players for FanTeam’s EPL Unlimited – a game with no budget restrictions.

As for Fantasy EFL, Oxford followed their impressive win over Norwich by beating Peterborough in the Carabao Cup. The likes of James Trafford, Anthony Patterson and Hull City are backed to succeed at the weekend.

Still to come before this deadline is a look at differentials, captains and the five-a-side FPL Challenge. Any lessons learned from pre-season, too.

As always, check out the Gameweek 1 page to quickly access all recent articles, plus the standard press conference updates from managers. Visit our Members Area for comparison tools and an in-depth collection of Opta and StatsBomb data.

Over on our YouTube channel, alongside the usual Scoutcast and Burning Questions episodes are General’s Orders and team reveals from the likes of Tom Freeman and FPL Family’s Sam.

💰 A reminder that FanTeam are offering a free ticket into their UNLIMITED BUDGET SEASON LONG GAME for all new customers - no deposit required!
