✍️ THE SCOUT REPORT
Back to a Saturday morning deadline, FPL managers have a bit more time to gather information on the many injury situations that are affecting highly-owned players. Gabriel limped off in Arsenal’s draw with Liverpool, Lewis Dunk was absent in Gameweek 9 and there were midweek EFL Cup problems for Eberechi Eze and Micky van de Ven. Doubts also linger over Dwight McNeil and in-form Chris Wood.
The Man City injury list keeps extending too, with Josko Gvardiol seen receiving post-match treatment. This is one of seven reasons why Pras thinks selling Erling Haaland is a good idea, in a week where sacrificing the league’s top scorer to buy Mohamed Salah is being seriously discussed. FPL General is thinking of it too, although Lateriser now has a ‘threemium’ containing both of these plus Cole Palmer. None of the trio started on Wednesday night.
Perhaps this Haaland backlash is a reaction to him only scoring once versus Southampton, despite four big chances and an xG of 2.33. Three managers from ‘The Great and the Good’ used their Triple Captain chip on such disappointment.
A popular move is to downgrade an expensive defender to Rayan Ait-Nouri. The left-back is already on three goals and Wolves are about to enter a superb fixture run. Unanimous on Gameweek 10’s Scout Squad picks, be aware that he’s also on four yellow cards and nearing suspension.
Also entering strong fixtures is Man United, fresh from dismissing Erik ten Hag. It could therefore be a good time to get Bruno Fernandes or Alejandro Garnacho, as both shone in the cup win over Leicester.
Elsewhere, there have been a couple of interesting developments with set-piece takers, while Yoane Wissa was eventually awarded Brentford’s second goal of last Saturday. It was too late to upgrade his FPL points, though.
As well as regular weekly coverage of the Fantasy EFL game, we’ve looked at which teams could be stacked up on for FanTeam’s Big Pick 6 game, as Sleeper Pick’em is already thinking ahead to next week’s Champions League action.
Still to come before the deadline are Zophar’s latest thoughts, Spot the Differential and Captain Sensible.
