For the fifth successive time, Gameweek 10 saw Mohamed Salah outdo Erling Haaland, as the Liverpool attacker moved 16 points ahead overall. 14 of ‘The Great and The Good’ were able to captain Salah, so we dove deep into the underlying stats to ask if Arne Slot has unlocked the best version of him.

Meanwhile, a Champions League penalty miss ensured that things keep worsening for Haaland and out-of-form Man City. Our ‘Rate My Team’ algorithm doesn’t recommend the Norwegian for Free Hit users, though Zophar suggests giving him one more week. The Pro Pundit also advises managers to sell the comical Dominic Calvert-Lewin, which is where our Wolves love-in begins. 

Although Matheus Cunha is a more popular purchase and is unanimous in our Scout Squad picks, strike partner Jorgen Strand Larsen is a great differential and makes the two-man shortlists of both FPL General and Lateriser.

An earlier-than-planned Wildcard for FPL Family’s Sam will include a couple of Wolves, even though Rayan Ait-Nouri is nearing suspension. She also keeps faith in Arsenal despite their recent decline, knowing that Martin Odegaard is back from injury. And like many managers, Sam will be keen to see what Enzo Maresca says about Cole Palmer’s knock but has until Saturday’s 13:30 GMT deadline to finalise decisions.

Those who’ll Wildcard during the international break may be interested in a one-week punt like Son Heung-min or Rasmus Hojlund but it’s probably less appealing now that transfers are allowed to be carried through chip usage. When making such decisions, former FPL champion Simon March would conduct a pre-mortem, where thinking well ahead prevents the brain from falling into its usual habits.
