✍️ THE SCOUT REPORT | GAMEWEEK 12
The torturous Gameweek 11 will go down in FPL history as one of the worst of all time, with a devastating combination of highly-owned blanks, early withdrawals, red cards and shockingly low scores.
Popular captains Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland failed in seemingly straightforward matches. The Norwegian departed at half-time with a knock and – even though both he and Matty Cash are no longer flagged – Bukayo Saka and James Maddison remain doubts for Gameweek 12, adding further misery to those feeling optimistic of immediately bouncing back.
Spurs defenders Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero were sent off, whilst Dan Burn’s half-time injury denied owners a clean sheet and now gives them a two-month absence to deal with. That’s why we’ve looked into the best budget defenders to replace the trio, as has Zophar, alongside an investigation into how Newcastle’s back line may now look. Especially considering their next opponents have conceded the most set-piece chances so far.
Yes, most FPL managers had a traumatic time. The Great and the Good scores ranged from 11 – sorry again, Az - to 41, averaging at roughly 28. However, FPL General earned a green arrow and is planning a Gameweek 12 midfield transfer.
Perhaps it’s time we all do that – put the horrors behind us and look ahead to the upcoming week using the Scout Squad picks, which heavily focus on the nice fixtures of Arsenal, Man United, Newcastle and Brighton. Salah is backed by both Captain Sensible and Rate My Team (RMT) for the armband, with Eberechi Eze backed as a differential. Plus, it’s time for FPL managers to apply for the FFS Open Cup (qualifiers start this week) and FFS Members Cup.
Still to come before Saturday’s 11:00 (GMT) deadline is a round-up of midweek European action, the latest from Lateriser and an updated Watchlist.
