✍️ THE SCOUT REPORT | GAMEWEEK 14
This hectic December immediately places a midweek round of fixtures after Gameweek 14, so FPL managers are trying to prepare their squads for any potential setbacks. A study into the quick turnaround times between now and Gameweek 16 looks fine for Newcastle assets but not those of Brighton and Liverpool.
It’s touched upon by Zophar in his weekly Q&A, which discusses Darwin Nunez’s minutes, Alexander Isak and the uncertain injury status of Jarrod Bowen. West Ham’s talisman has dropped in our Watchlist, with the in-form Swedish forward rising.
There’s also a question on Cole Palmer versus Anthony Gordon. The former is backed as Lateriser’s preferred sub-£6.0m midfielder, whilst the latter was sold by Great and the Good manager Andy North right before his 13-point haul. Even worse, it was for the quickly injured Eberechi Eze! FPL General planned the same move for this upcoming week – still holding off his Wildcard - so can instead adapt.
Additionally, Tom Freeman bought Reece James’ red card, now on the suspension list alongside names like Spurs centre-back Cristian Romero. Because the north Londoners are lacking such defenders, Erling Haaland is therefore backed for captaincy and it adds to the patched-up feel that has owners debating whether to keep or sell Son Heung-min.
Many sellers are doing so for Bryan Mbeumo, backed unanimously in our Scout Squad picks. And those hesitant because of Brentford and Man City’s Blank Gameweek 18 could instead follow Pras’ advice of using a Free Hit at that point.
Elsewhere, an FFS Cup update is provided, with Tomas Soucek backed as a differential and current FPL champion Ali picking out the players he likes from teams with good fixture runs.
