It’s been an FPL week of two big headlines. Firstly, Storm Darragh forced the Merseyside derby to be this season’s first postponement, allowing 15 of the 18 ‘Great and the Good’ managers to instead put their armband on Cole Palmer’s 18-point haul - Captain Sensible backs the Chelsea attacker this time too. And early reports say the match’s rearrangement will create Double Gameweek 24.

Secondly, those in charge of FPL have finally revealed what the Mystery Chip is – an Assistant Manager. We quickly reacted to this by looking into when each club’s best three-match streak could be for usage. Pro Pundit Zophar has given his initial thoughts on it, as well as discussing what managers should do with Gabriel. The centre-back has missed Arsenal’s latest three matches but one journalist thinks he’ll be ok for Saturday.

If true, this would aid managers suffering a defensive crisis. He’s been out, while cheap bench-warmers like Jacob Greaves and Wout Faes aren’t nailed on anymore and Manchester City’s Rico Lewis is suspended. Of course, those still with a Wildcard can fix this, also preparing themselves for the possibility of Nicolas Jackson and Rayan Ait-Nouri picking up their fifth yellow card.

Not that it prevents these two from being popular Scout Squad picks for Gameweek 16, just like Alexander Isak and Evanilson. The latter’s Bournemouth side has accumulated great underlying numbers over the last six Gameweeks, at both ends. That makes Dean Huijsen a potentially great differential that can help ease defensive problems.

Another popular player close to suspension is Morgan Rogers but it’s also worth paying attention to team-mate Ollie Watkins’ mixed week. Days after taking his first penalty since 2022/23, he was benched versus Southampton and left Aston Villa’s Champions League clash holding his thigh. 

As well as regular weekly coverage of the Fantasy EFL game, we use the Sleeper Pick’Em game to guess these upcoming Premier League scores. As for the FFS Cups, all former winners are out of the Open Cup but two remain in the Members competition.
