It’s typical of the Fantasy Premier League universe: spend a whole summer making drafts and preaching about being calm with transfers, only to spend the first week panicking about the future of cheap defenders Jarell Quansah and Valentin Barco.

The Liverpool man departed at half-time and Brighton’s left-back was surprisingly unused, now set to join Sevilla on loan. Fairly popular picks, we’ve asked what owners should do with them. Quansah has already dropped in price and Barco may lock at £4.0m.

Tried and tested defensive names fared well in Gameweek 1, although Pedro Porro’s goal preceded a late knock that now has the community nervous. Yankuba Minteh is also a slight doubt but Brighton’s signings of Brajan Gruda and Georginio Rutter already threaten his potential game time.

At home to Ipswich, he’s the leading armband choice and it’s no shock that he’s a unanimous Scout Squad pick, where many names are high on the Watchlist as well. Man City team-mate Jeremy Doku is picked out as an intriguing differential.

Gameweek 1 was pretty useful at providing information on set-piece takers and how changes to bonus point calculations will transpire, whilst each position had several starters at the cheapest possible price. 

Although the real-life transfer window is still open, a small percentage of FPL managers are taking the drastic step of a Gameweek 2 Wildcard. Therefore we’ve provided a few possible drafts – one Haaland-only, one just with Mohamed Salah and another with both. Although Pras is the sole Great and the Good manager to currently possess the premium duo.
