Gameweek 20 brings the final quick turnaround in fixtures before a quieter, calmer January. Well, in theory. The FPL community will still be finding ways to interpret the latest quotes on Erling Haaland’s injury, as well as thinking of exciting replacements once Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-min briefly depart for AFCON and Asian Cup duty. 

Chelsea’s festive congestion has been the harshest but at least Cole Palmer will return from suspension fully-rested. Furthermore, all but four teams have now reached the end point for bans being caused by five yellow cards.

We’re also at the final opportunity for managers to activate their first Wildcard. FPL General already found his way deep into the top 100k without one, so his written chip reveal and General’s Orders video are both interesting. Here’s a clue: his current draft reacts to Newcastle’s recent freefall by not including any of their players.

The Magpies were outsmarted by Nottingham Forest’s new boss Nuno Espirito Santo, with our Scout Report anticipating what his appointment could mean to FPL managers. Maybe Chris Wood can continue the impressive goals per 90 rate that Big Numbers points out.
