✍️ THE SCOUT REPORT

September’s international break. A more peaceful time, allowing us to reflect on line-up lessons, pick out the most interesting stats and even conduct a Sleeper draft amongst Scout’s core staff. Of course, we’ve provided our usual minutes tracker, showing that Gameweek 4’s most-bought asset Joao Pedro played 45 minutes for Brazil and brings slight nerves about whether he’ll start against Ipswich.

A huge part of Pedro’s popularity is his status as one of FPL’s best budget players, alongside Morgan Rogers – featured in 15 of 18 Great and the Good squads – and Antoine Semenyo, whose 17 shots are a league-leading total.

This could be handy if you’re choosing to Wildcard in Gameweek 4, as Lateriser advises a deep squad. We’ve provided a few drafts that get onto back-to-back home matches for Liverpool, Aston Villa and Brighton, with Zophar suggesting Bryan Mbeumo despite Saturday’s trip to Man City.

The same Pro Pundit recommends Yankuba Minteh and at least one defender from the Reds – although Andrew Robertson has had more big chances, Trent Alexander-Arnold is still deemed to be worth the extra million spent. He’s unanimous in Scout Squad picks, as is Captain Sensible recommendation Erling Haaland, a leading beneficiary of the new bonus points system. Our algorithm’s recommended Free Hit XI gives him the armband for 68.81 points.

Distracted by the north London derby, FPL Family’s Sam could be tempted into a spontaneous Wildcard but she’s more likely. Tom Freeman aims to activate in Gameweek 6, stocking up on Arsenal and Brentford individuals. Although it’ll be interesting to see if Raheem Sterling’s loan arrival will finally being rests to Bukayo Saka. Other new signings to be assessed include Federico Chiesa, Joshua Zirkzee, Ferdi Kadioglu and Jadon Sancho.

Meanwhile, what about Bruno Fernandes – should managers keep or sell this season’s biggest xGI underachiever? FPL General is getting rid. Former champion Simon March asks an even bigger question: is value more about emotional reassurance than points per million? Evanilson is picked out as a differential too.

As well as regular weekly coverage of the new Fantasy EFL game, we’re also previewing the start of UCL Fantasy, checking out its new format, the best teams to target and which ones have a nasty upcoming schedule.

Still to come before this deadline is Scout Picks and part two of line-up lessons.
