✍️ THE SCOUT REPORT
Last weekend’s resumption after the international break brought frustrations for many FPL managers. A variety of high-profile blanks, benchings and the complete absence of Gameweek 4’s most-bought player Joao Pedro - owned by 15 of 18 ‘Great and the Good’ competitors. Some also possess the dropped Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz.
Yet those planning on a simple switch to Yoane Wissa need to rethink, as he’s now out for two months. We’ve therefore looked at similarly-priced replacements such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jamie Vardy, who has recently increased to £5.7m. Zophar likes the Everton man because his team has the best run of upcoming fixtures, while FPL Family’s Sam currently has both Muniz and a hurt Alexander Isak, meaning a transfer might go on Dominic Solanke.
Even unluckier managers might have so many fires to put that an immediate Wildcard is being seriously considered. Pro Pundit Lateriser asks if the numerous planning a Gameweek 6 activation could instead use it one week earlier. If so, three drafts have been provided.
There’s also a look at possible Free Hit usage. Our Rate My Team algorithm recommends an XI with Ollie Watkins and captain Mohamed Salah, both of whom are unanimous Scout Squad picks. The Aston Villa forward scored twice last Saturday and should be fine, despite being seen with a midweek icing of his ankle.
Something else we discovered is that Eberechi Eze isn’t automatically on Crystal Palace penalties. But the 26-year-old’s latest EFL Cup goal shows that he doesn’t need them. Other action saw Brentford midfielder Kevin Schade used up front in Wissa’s usual spot. Maybe he will quickly become a great differential.
As well as regular weekly coverage of the new Fantasy EFL game, this week brought plenty of articles focusing on the start of UCL Fantasy’s league phase – including team reveals, cheap starters and 36 predicted line-ups. Additionally, the first week of our Sleeper draft league amongst core staff saw one of them bag a huge 140 points.
