✍️ THE SCOUT REPORT

Even by FPL standards, it’s been a crazy week. It began with a deep community investigation into whether a hooded Arsenal player coming off the team bus was Bukayo Saka, before Son-gate brought mass hysteria over a controversial assist that was eventually removed. Meanwhile, the most-picked defender William Saliba was sent off and Erling Haaland blanked at last-placed Wolves.

Low scores all round, then. Why begs the question: if there is indeed a secret FPL cartel, why did so many ‘Great and the Good’ content creators get no more than 30 points?

Pro Pundits have dropped by with their opinions. For example, FPL Family’s Sam is wondering whether to bench or sell Saliba and Zophar discusses premium midfielders now that Saka is “unlikely” for the weekend, according to the deliberately deceiving Mikel Arteta. He also speaks about using the Triple Captain chip on Haaland, who is out-of-form domestically but scored twice in Wednesday’s Champions League.

Remember, this Gameweek 9 deadline is on Friday evening, rather than the usual Saturday. An upcoming fixture frisk showcases the brilliant upcoming runs for Brentford and Wolves, which is why Lateriser may downgrade Kai Havertz to either Yoane Wissa or Jorgen Strand Larsen. The latter is part of a well-researched comparison piece versus more expensive team-mate Matheus Cunha, who joins Wissa on Spot the Differential.

As well as regular weekly coverage of the new Fantasy EFL game, we saw FanTeam’s AI Champions League line-up go up against a Scout XI and will also have a go at predicting the upcoming top-flight matches in Sleeper’s Pick’em contest.

Also still to come before the 18:30 deadline are Scout Squad picks, Captain Sensible and the thoughts of Tom Freeman and FPL General.
