✍️ THE SCOUT REPORT
It’s a big summer for Fantasy Football Scout, with in-depth Euro 2024 coverage alongside our imminent app launch and exciting new team-ups with Fantasy EFL and StatsBomb.
Then there was the minor issue of FPL officially launching for 2024/25 with some headline changes. Managers can now accumulate up to five free transfers, whilst there’ll be a Mystery Chip later on. With fewer Blank and Double Gameweeks this time, managers can contemplate some possible earlier usage of chips.
Our graphic of each team’s nicest fixture run shows strong starts for Liverpool and Newcastle. Unsurprisingly, their assets rank highly on our RMT early points projections and you can get your own draft rated with the superb PlanFPL organiser.
Pro Pundits Milanista and Zophar have both been able to squeeze in Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland in their first drafts but Tom Freeman is currently without the Norwegian, instead opting for a heavy midfield plus Trent Alexander-Arnold. Spurs fan Sam Bonfield suggests avoiding their defence early on.
Another popular community debate wonders if Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku can cover the much more expensive Cole Palmer. He’s been reclassified as a midfielder and scored in their first friendly match. There’s also a hype train for cheap Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers, after three goals in two outings.
Meanwhile, newly-promoted Ipswich have been analysed. Manager Kieran McKenna is very highly rated, in attack there are some potential bargains and their backline provides a few of FPL’s most appealing £4.0m defenders. At Crystal Palace, we compare Eberechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta, although the latter’s early availability could be affected by his involvement at the Olympics.
Scout Reports continue to assess new signings like Savinho, the now-injured Igor Thiago and midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who has followed Enzo Maresca from Leicester to Stamford Bridge.
However, arguably this summer’s biggest development in the Fantasy world is the launch of a game involving all 72 English Football League (EFL) clubs. We’re delighted to be teaming up with the official website for this and have already published our own look at its unique rules. A few out-of-position players have even been spotted.
After a soft launch during the final weeks of 2023/24, FPL Challenge is back too. This time, it comes with rank badges, season-long mini-leagues and a removal of substitutes and vice captains.
To see all this at a glance, check out our pre-season page to quickly access articles and our much-loved minutes tracker for all friendlies. There’s a club-by-club look at transfers and results too. Visit our Members Area for comparison tools and an in-depth collection of Opta data, soon to be joined by StatsBomb’s highly-regarded expected goals (xG) model.
Over on our YouTube channel, watch the likes of FPL General, Simon March, Joe and Mark Sutherns talk through their first drafts, whilst Az and Sam rate some sent-in squads.
So sit down, launch FPL, pick a funny team name and start putting together your squad for Gameweek 1.
